Disclaimer & Terms of Use.
The honest fine print. What this work is, what it isn’t, and the protections in place for both of us.

Cost of I Do is a publishing brand by Hazel McBride. This page covers the important things you should know before relying on anything you read here — and the rules of the road for using the site, the free resources, and any paid products.
01Not Professional Advice
The content on costofido.com — including blog posts, videos, emails, downloadable PDFs, courses, worksheets, and any product I publish — is provided for educational and informational purposes only.
I am not a licensed therapist, marriage counselor, certified financial planner, attorney, accountant, tax advisor, or healthcare provider. Nothing on this site is intended as, and nothing here should be construed as, professional advice in any of those fields.
Specifically, the content on this site is not:
- Psychological or relationship counseling. If you are in emotional distress or your relationship is in crisis, please work with a qualified licensed therapist, couples counselor, or other mental health professional.
- Financial planning advice. Decisions about investments, retirement planning, tax strategies, insurance, or estate planning should be reviewed with a qualified Certified Financial Planner™ or other licensed professional in your jurisdiction.
- Legal advice. Decisions involving prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, divorce, separation, wills, trusts, or any other legal matter should be reviewed with a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
- Tax advice. Anything that touches taxation should be reviewed with a qualified CPA or tax professional who knows your specific situation.
- Medical or mental health treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified provider or, in the U.S., call or text the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
The frameworks I write help you see clearly. The professionals help you act on what you see. They’re complementary, not interchangeable.
02No Guaranteed Results
The frameworks, conversation scripts, worksheets, and recommendations on this site and in its products are based on a combination of published research, observation, and the best thinking I can offer. They have been useful for many readers.
That said, every relationship and financial situation is different. I cannot and do not guarantee:
- That applying the frameworks will save, improve, or change any specific relationship
- That you will reach any particular financial outcome, net worth, or income level
- That the conversations recommended will go well, or go at all
- That any specific decision based on this work will produce any specific result
Personal outcomes depend on countless factors that are outside my control — including but not limited to your individual circumstances, your partner’s circumstances, the timing of your application of any framework, the support systems available to you, broader economic conditions, and the choices both partners make over time.
Your results will vary. They may be better than what you read. They may be worse. They may be different in ways neither of us can predict. By using this work, you accept that no specific outcome is promised or guaranteed.
03Testimonials and Reviews
Where testimonials, reviews, or reader stories appear on this site or in marketing materials, they reflect the genuine experiences of those individuals — but they are not typical, expected, or guaranteed results for any other person.
Specifically:
- Some testimonials may be lightly edited for clarity or length, but never in ways that change their meaning.
- Some reviewers may have received the product at no cost in exchange for an honest review. This will always be disclosed where applicable.
- No reviewer is paid or compensated to provide a specific opinion. People are free to like, dislike, or be indifferent to the work.
- Names and details may be changed when a reviewer prefers privacy — but the substance of every published testimonial reflects a real reader’s real experience.
If you have questions about a specific testimonial or want to know more about how a result was achieved, you are welcome to email me directly.
04Affiliate Links & Earnings Disclosure
Some posts, emails, or pages on this site may contain affiliate links — meaning if you click through and make a purchase, Cost of I Do may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This is standard practice and helps support the work I do here.
When affiliate links appear, they will be disclosed at or near the point of recommendation. I only recommend products and services I have personally used or thoroughly reviewed — affiliate compensation does not influence what I recommend, only how those recommendations are tracked.
Cost of I Do is the publisher of its own paid products, including The Million-Dollar Decision and any companion bonuses or future products. Revenue from those products supports the brand’s continued work. This is disclosed openly throughout the site.
05External Links
This site may link to third-party websites, services, products, or resources. These links are provided as a courtesy when relevant.
Cost of I Do is not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or policies of any third-party site. Following an external link is at your own discretion, and any transactions or interactions you have with those third parties are governed by their own terms — not ours.
06Copyright & Licensing
All content on costofido.com — including written articles, videos, PDFs, worksheets, scripts, course materials, graphics, and branding — is the original work of Hazel McBride and Cost of I Do, and is protected by copyright law.
For free resources (such as the 12 Questions PDF, blog posts, and emails): you are welcome to read, save, print, and share them privately with your partner, family, or close friends. You are also welcome to quote short passages with proper attribution.
For paid products (such as The Million-Dollar Decision and its bonuses): your purchase grants you a single-user license for personal use within your household. You are welcome to share the materials with your romantic partner. You are not permitted to:
- Resell, redistribute, or upload the materials anywhere publicly
- Share download links or files with people outside your household
- Use the content to create derivative products, courses, or services
- Reproduce substantial portions in commercial work without written permission
Please respect the work. The ability to keep writing things like this depends on it.
07Refund Policy
Paid products purchased through Cost of I Do come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you purchase a product, read or use it, and find it doesn’t deliver value for you — email hazel@costofido.com within 30 days of purchase and I’ll refund you in full. No forms. No hoops. No interrogation about why.
The refund is for people for whom the work genuinely doesn’t fit. I’d rather you have your money back than have a product that didn’t work for you.
After 30 days, refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and granted at my discretion.
08Privacy & Data
When you sign up for free resources, purchase a product, or otherwise interact with this site, certain information is collected — such as your name, email address, and (for purchases) the billing details required to process a transaction.
This information is used only to:
- Deliver the resources, products, or emails you requested
- Communicate about your purchase or subscription
- Improve the work I publish here
Your information is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. For full details, see the separate Privacy Policy.
09Limitation of Liability
By using this site or any of its products — free or paid — you agree that:
- You are using the content at your own discretion and risk
- You are responsible for your own decisions, including financial and relationship decisions
- Cost of I Do, Hazel McBride, and anyone affiliated with the brand are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the content or products
- Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with a paid product is the refund policy described above
This limitation applies to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law in your jurisdiction.
10Changes to This Disclaimer
I may update this disclaimer from time to time — to reflect changes in the law, in the products and services offered, or in how the brand operates. When changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.
For material changes that affect your rights, I will make a reasonable effort to notify subscribers by email. Continued use of the site or its products after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated disclaimer.
11Jurisdiction
Cost of I Do is operated from the United States. Any disputes arising from your use of this site or its products will be governed by U.S. law and resolved in U.S. courts, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.
International readers and customers are welcome — but please be aware that the laws and regulations referenced throughout this work (particularly around taxes, prenups, estate planning, and similar matters) may be different in your country. Consult a qualified professional in your own jurisdiction for anything specific to where you live.
