Terms & Conditions.
The rules of the road for using costofido.com, the free resources, and any paid products. Read once. Keep this page handy if you need it later.
Last updated: May 14, 2026
These Terms govern your use of costofido.com and any product, service, content, or feature offered through it. By using the site or purchasing anything from it, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
01Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using costofido.com (the “Site”), subscribing to our free resources, purchasing a product, or otherwise interacting with content published by Cost of I Do (“we,” “us,” “our”), you (“you,” “the user,” “the customer”) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
These Terms work together with our Disclaimer and Privacy Policy. All three documents form the complete agreement between you and Cost of I Do.
If you are using the Site on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase any product on this Site or to enter into the agreement these Terms describe. By making a purchase, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
02About Cost of I Do
Cost of I Do is a publishing brand operated by Hazel McBride. We produce educational and informational content focused on the intersection of romantic partnerships and personal finance.
Our content takes several forms:
- Free resources — including blog posts, newsletter emails, downloadable PDFs, and YouTube videos
- Paid digital products — including ebooks, worksheets, scripts, and reference materials
- Any future products or services we choose to offer
All of these are governed by these Terms.
03Intellectual Property Rights
All content published on the Site or in any Cost of I Do product — including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, downloadable files, course materials, frameworks, and the overall design and arrangement of the Site — is the original work of Hazel McBride and Cost of I Do.
This content is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Cost of I Do retains all rights to its content, except for the limited licenses granted to you in these Terms.
The names “Cost of I Do,” “Hazel McBride,” “The Million-Dollar Decision,” “The 12 Questions,” and any associated logos, taglines, or product names are trademarks of Cost of I Do. You may not use them without prior written permission.
04License to Use Free Content
For free content available on the Site — including blog posts, newsletter emails, free PDFs (such as the 12 Questions), and YouTube videos — we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Read, view, save, and print the content for your personal, non-commercial use
- Share the content privately with your romantic partner, family members, or close friends
- Link to the content from your own website or social media
- Quote short passages (under 100 words) with proper attribution to Cost of I Do
You may not:
- Repost free PDFs or other downloadable materials on your own site, social media, or any other public forum
- Resell, redistribute, or otherwise commercialize any free content
- Use the content to train, develop, or fine-tune any artificial intelligence model
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the content without written permission
- Remove copyright or attribution notices
05License to Use Paid Products
When you purchase a digital product from Cost of I Do, you are purchasing a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use that product — not ownership of the underlying intellectual property.
This license allows you to:
- Download the product files to your own devices
- Read, print, and use the content for personal use within your household
- Share the product privately with your romantic partner (one household, one license)
- Re-read or use the materials any number of times for as long as you own a usable copy
This license does not allow you to:
- Resell, redistribute, or transfer the product to anyone outside your household
- Upload or share product files on file-sharing sites, social media, cloud links, forums, or any public location
- Use the product content to create courses, programs, books, or other commercial offerings
- Reproduce substantial portions of the product in any commercial work
- Use the content to train, develop, or fine-tune any artificial intelligence or machine-learning model
- Remove or alter copyright notices, branding, or attribution
The license is for your use, in your household. The ability to keep writing things like this depends on people respecting that.
06Purchases & Payment
Paid products are sold through third-party platforms, primarily Gumroad. When you make a purchase, you are entering into a transaction subject to:
- These Terms and Conditions
- Gumroad’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
- The terms of your chosen payment method (credit card, PayPal, etc.)
All prices are displayed in U.S. dollars (USD) unless otherwise specified. Prices may change at any time without notice. The price you pay is the price displayed at checkout.
Sales tax, VAT, or other applicable taxes may be added to your purchase based on your location. These are calculated and collected by the payment platform.
You are responsible for ensuring that the email address and other information you provide at checkout are accurate. We are not responsible for delivery failures caused by incorrect customer information.
07Delivery of Digital Products
All Cost of I Do products are digital and delivered electronically. After completing a purchase, you will:
- Receive an order confirmation email at the address you provided
- Receive a separate email containing your download link(s)
- Have access to the files via your Gumroad account (or equivalent platform)
If you do not receive your download within 1 hour of purchase, check your spam or promotions folder first. If you still have not received it, email hazel@costofido.com and we will resolve the issue promptly.
No physical products are shipped. No physical media is produced or mailed.
08Refund Policy
Paid products purchased through Cost of I Do come with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
If, within 30 days of your purchase, you are not satisfied with the product for any reason, email hazel@costofido.com with your order details and we will issue a full refund. No forms to fill out, no interrogation, no hoops.
To request a refund:
- Email us within 30 days of your purchase date
- Include the email address used at purchase and the product name
- Briefly state that you are requesting a refund (a reason is appreciated but not required)
Refunds are typically processed within 5–7 business days and will be credited back to your original payment method.
After the 30-day window, refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and granted at our sole discretion.
We reserve the right to refuse refunds in cases of clear abuse — for example, repeated purchases and refunds of the same product, or evidence that the product has been redistributed or shared in violation of these Terms.

10User-Generated Content
If you submit content to the Site — including comments, replies to emails, testimonials, feedback, or anything else — you grant Cost of I Do a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and distribute that content in connection with the brand.
This includes the right to use your name (or, where you’ve requested anonymity, your first name and last initial), city, and a description of your situation, in testimonials, marketing materials, or future books and products.
You confirm that any content you submit is your own original work and does not infringe on the rights of any third party.
You can withdraw consent for the future use of your content by emailing us at hazel@costofido.com. We will honor that request going forward, though we may not be able to remove content from materials already in distribution.

12Disclaimers
The Site and all products are provided “as is” and “as available.” While we put significant care into the work we publish, we do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
Specifically:
- We make no warranty that the content is accurate, complete, or current at all times
- We make no guarantee of any specific outcome resulting from your use of our content or products
- We do not provide professional therapy, financial planning, legal, or medical advice — see our Disclaimer for full details
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
13Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Cost of I Do, Hazel McBride, and any of our affiliates, employees, or contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
- This includes (but is not limited to) damages for loss of profits, goodwill, data, use, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of the Site or any product

In any case where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Site or any product shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months before the claim arose — or, if you have made no payments, $100 USD.
14Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cost of I Do, Hazel McBride, and our affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of or relating to:
- Your use of the Site or any product
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third party’s rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights

- Any conduct that, in our judgment, materially harms the brand or its community
If your access is terminated for cause, you are not entitled to a refund, and you must stop using all Cost of I Do products and content immediately.
You may terminate your relationship with us at any time by unsubscribing from emails, requesting account deletion, or simply stopping use of the Site.
16Dispute Resolution
If a dispute arises between you and Cost of I Do, we ask that you first contact us directly at hazel@costofido.com and attempt to resolve the issue in good faith. Most issues can be resolved this way without further escalation.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally:
- Governing law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Cost of I Do is operated, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
- Venue: Any legal proceeding shall be brought in the appropriate state or federal courts located in the United States.
- Consumer protections: Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under applicable law in your jurisdiction.
If you reside outside the United States, you acknowledge that you are voluntarily using a U.S.-based service and agree to U.S. law as the governing law, except where consumer protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.
17Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our products, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page

Your continued use of the Site or any product after changes have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you do not agree with an updated version of these Terms, your sole remedy is to stop using the Site and any product.
18Severability & Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced with one that most closely matches the original intent within the bounds of the law.
These Terms, together with the Disclaimer and Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Cost of I Do regarding your use of the Site and any product. They supersede any prior agreements, understandings, or communications.
No waiver of any provision shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of that provision or any other provision.
